Dusty was my friend. Everyone that knew him realized that he was one of a kind. He was one of my favorite lead singers. He rarely remembered all the words and would look to Dallas and Me for help. But he always had a beautiful lead voice.
Dusty was also one of the funniest guys I knew. I remember him telling the story of putting a puzzle together when he was younger. He said he couldn’t get the pieces to fit, so he cut them with scissors. He was so funny that way.
We sang many songs for many people. He used to lead, “Yes He’ll deliver me in my time of need like those Hebrew children in the fire he freed. Like he fed 5,000 with two fishes and bread and He walked on the water and raised the dead. Well he stood by Daniel in the Lions den, and saved ole Moses from Pharaoh's men. Opened up the eyes of the blind to see, I KNOW that He’ll deliver me.”
I’m glad that it’s God holding my hand and that He’ll deliver me. Not because I’m good but because he’s faithful and true. He’s the Good Shepherd and I truly believe that Dusty knew that.
Love To All,
